Fun with Nana

This morning, my Grandma went to the Farm with us.  The weather was warm and sunny, and the Farm was very crowded.  Even though the boys were wearing matching shirts, it was a bit hard keeping eyes on them when they decided to run in opposite directions!  We had so much fun with Nana!

Testimonial

Last month, I received a call from the Sunflower Neonatology Group...they were Matty's first doctors while he was in the NICU.  It has been well over 4 years since he left the hospital, so I was a little surprised that our name came up to submit a testimonial for the doctors.  But, I am sure that Matty's amazing success story will not be forgotten anytime soon!!

The Farm!

Deanna Rose (aka the Farm) has been open all month, but it has either been too cold or rainy whenever we have wanted to go.  However, it was a great morning to go today!  The boys had such a fun time.  Since it wasn't crowded, they were able to try out every playground...they especially liked the sand digging tools.  Matty tried the tall barn tunnel slides for the first time and he had a blast.  Zach followed him up the dark and narrow staircase the first time, but got to the top and refused to go down...so, I had to dodge other little ones to climb up to get him, which was pretty tough.  I'm sure we'll be back to the Farm very soon!
Riding the train.

They always love the running water.

The sand diggers were great!

Deep in thought...I think I'll stay here all day!

Iron Woods Park

We met up with Matty's friend Sam this morning at a beautiful park in Leawood call Iron Woods.  I had been to the barn there once before for a work event, but had never toured the entire park...it was great!  There was a nice playground, hiking trails, little cabin houses, obstacle courses, an amphitheater area and an old school house.  The boys played on the equipment for awhile, then we explored the hiking trails.  The boys practically ran the entire time!  Then, they ran all over the stage, played around the little cabin houses and finally took a break at a picnic table for a snack.  We will definitely go back to this park soon!
Ready to play on the slides.

Walking along the trails...it was hard getting them all in the same picture!

Kid of the Week

Matty is currently the kid of the week at school.  We worked on his poster yesterday and he chose some toys to bring in for show and tell today.  Zach and I stayed for Matty's presentation...he did great!  He showed his poster to the class and told about his favorite color (orange) & song (DJ Kirby dance mix).  He also shared some of his favorite things to do (help wash cars and ride bikes) and some of his favorite things.  A highlight was when he said that he liked iPads, but that the picture on his poster looked more like an iPhone!  He showed his friends his blower, weed eater, and road ripper car.  Zach enjoyed watching his brother as well as playing with some markers.  Matty did a great job as Kid of the Week!
Zach was excited to go in the classroom.

The classmates had fun during Matty's presentation!

Easter

We had a very nice Easter weekend.  We had dinner at my Grandma's house on Saturday night, where the boys had fun playing with their Great Uncles, Aunt, and grandparents.  The boys woke up Sunday morning and found their Easter eggs and enjoyed some early morning chocolate from the Easter bunny.  Then, we went to noon mass and came home to ride bikes for a little while.  We finished the day off with a great dinner and another egg hunt at my parents' house.
Yea!  A chocolate bunny sucker!

This way to the eggs!
Zach had us re-hide the eggs over and over.
He loved his pop rockets.
