Fun Morning

Yesterday, we visited Erik & Stephanie's new house.  The boys had fun exploring the home and running free out in the country.  Matty especially enjoyed sitting on the tractor and making the giant scoop go up and down.  What a fun morning!

NICU Reunion

We attended our 4th Overland Park Regional NICU reunion yesterday evening, which was held at the Wonderscope Children's Museum.  We ran into Dr L and Dr H as well as several nurses who took care of Matthew during his 108 day stay in the NICU...all were so pleased to see how great he is doing 4 years later!  We also visited with several of our friends that we met during the summer of 2008...these friends will always be dear to our heart, as we all went through the triumphs and tribulations of the NICU together.  No one truly understands what it is like to have a sick child in the NICU unless they have had one themselves, and we are so blessed that we can look back 4 years later knowing that all of the scary times were well worth it in the end!

Fall Day

Yellow & Bus Day

The theme at Matty's preschool today was buses, and the kids were to wear yellow.  My Mom made him the cutest shirt with a yellow bus...which was a bit hit with his teacher!  Zach decided to also wear yellow for the occasion.  Whenever I drop Matty off in his classroom, Zach follows him in and cries when he can't stay...he really wants to be at school with his brother!

2 Year Checkup

Zach had his 2 year checkup this morning.  Other than screaming the entire time and asking for 'Matt Matt', he did great!  He received a flu shot and then told the nurses 'bye bye' over and over again.

Zach's 2 year stats:

Weight: 27 lbs, 8 oz (47%).  He gained about 2 lbs 7 oz since April, and is still right in the middle for weight, which is great.

Height: 36.2 inches (90%).  He grew 1.36 inches since April, and is still a tall boy for his age!

Zach had his 2nd birthday yesterday...I can't believe how fast the past 2 years have flown by!  He is such a happy little boy with the sweetest laugh, and he loves to be active at all times, especially hanging out with Matty!  Happy birthday Zach!

First Day of Preschool

Today is the day that I have been excited for and also dreading for some time...Matty's first day of preschool!  When we brought him home from the hospital almost 4 years ago to the day, he was a tiny 6 pound baby on oxygen and monitors, and today he is an independent, wonderful boy with a brilliant personality who steals the hearts of everyone he meets.  He was so brave as we walked him into the school...he chose a cubby and then started playing toys with another boy.  We waved goodbye to him and he waved back and didn't seem sad or scared at all.  I peeked in a few more times and he was doing fine, so the school year officially began!  The 2.5 hours seemed to speed by, and we took him out for a celebratory lunch at Panera and some yummy Gigi's cupcakes.  We both thought that he'd be talking up a storm, but he didn't really have much to say.  Oh well, at least day 1 is behind us and he did great!

Zachary's 2nd Birthday Party

We hosted Zach's 2nd birthday party on Sunday, and there were about 15 people here!  Zach had a great time and enjoyed eating his dino cake.  He also had fun opening his presents...he loved the wheelie garage set, Rody horse, books, clothes, and helicopter toy.  Thank you everyone for attending, we all had a lot of fun!
