Elite 8
Yea! Mizzou beat Memphis last night and is now headed to the Elite 8! Jeremy's team (Pitt) is also going, so should be interesting...what are the odds that both of our teams would make it?!?

Busy Day
Today was super busy! We were early for Matty's pediatrician appt, so we stopped by the NICU to say hello. We were able to chat with Charlotte, Susan, Missy, Igor, Amy, Clarissa, Kelli, Cindy, Larry, Tammy, Mary, Cassie (I hope I'm not forgetting anyone!) When Matthew was a patient in the NICU, I often saw families returning with their babies to visit, and I remember wishing for the day that we could be in that position, and today was that day! It brought back memories when we spoke with a new mom who had just had 1 lb 9 oz baby, and she knew that they were in for a long road...my Mom did tell her about Matty's story, which seemed to make her feel better. We are so thankful for all of the nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapists who helped Matty through his stay. One of the nurses told us that it is seeing graduates return that helps her go to work everyday. Then, we had to go next door for Matty to receive his last Synagis shot...hard to believe that he has received a total of 6! He weighed in at almost 13 lbs 10 oz. After a quick baby jog, we went to my Grandma Flo's house to visit her bridge group. Then, we tried to go to Town Center, but had to turn around when Matty decided to have a fountain spit up. Oh well, we know that he is helping to keep the detergent companies in business! I think that we are both tired, but are very excited to watch Mizzou play Memphis tonight. Go Tigers!

March Madness
Go Tigers! We enjoyed watching the Mizzou/Marquette game at my parents' house on Sunday. It was a very close game and Matty is so happy that the Tigers made it to the Sweet 16 this year!

Happy St. Pat's Day
Wow, the temp was around 80 degrees today! First, we went for a nice long jog this morning, and then we met our friends Blair and Lily at the park. Matty loved all of the attention, but wasn't sure about the swing. He may need to grow a bit more before he fits!

Stan wishes everyone a Happy St. Pat's Day!

Great Weekend
Yea! Mizzou won the Big 12 tournament on Saturday evening! We watched the first half of the game in the Sunset Grill bar, and Matty behaved himself for the most part. We were the only family there wearing MU clothes however! Then, we watched the second half at home and are so thrilled for the Tigers!
On Sunday, the weather was nicer, so we took a long stroller walk through the neighborhood. Matty slept the entire time of course! Then, my sister Ashlei called and said that they had just brought a baby Shih Tzu home! We ran right over to meet him, and he is adorable! The little guy was chasing Stan all over the place. Here are a few of Winston's first pictures:

Weigh In
Today was a very busy day! I had a dentist appt in the morning, and Matty stayed with his Grammie. Then, Matty had his 9-month checkup at the doc, even though he is only technically only 6 months old today. Too bad that the doc doesn't adjust the appt's for preemie age! Oh well. He had a very good checkup though, and we are so thankful. He weighed in at almost 13 lbs 2 oz! Yea! And he is now 24.5 inches long! This is quite tall for his weight! We think he is going to be tall just like his Daddy. Dr S. was pleased with everything! He had to have another Synagis shot, which made him quite upset for a short time. He fell asleep in the car, and then had his sweet potatoes & carrots.

Beautiful Weather
Today was great! Hard to believe that the temperature was around 70 degrees! This definitely set a new record high for KC! We took advantage of the lovely weather and took Matty and Stan for a long walk. Of course, Matty slept the entire time! We also let him play outside in the backyard on a blanket. He liked it for awhile...but then it got to be too bright. Too bad that he doesn't have a pair of sunglasses in his size! We are going to go out to dinner tonight & hopefully he will sleep like he did last weekend at Sunset Grill!

Superbowl
Matty's first Superbowl turned out well...the Steelers won! He was pretty happy.
And so was his Daddy.

Carrots
Well, the carrots are going ok, except that they are very messy! The bib didn't seem to keep the orange off of his clothes, so I finally decided to let him wear a bib only on the top. Matty still managed to make quite a mess!
Also, we bought him a Baby Einstein jumper the other day. It is similar to his Exersaucer, but allows him to jump around a bit more. We currently have it in the kitchen, since our family room is pretty much filled with his other toys!

What a Trooper
Matty had an appt with his pediatrician today...he had to get a Hep B shot as well as another Synagis shot. He was very well behaved and didn't cry while being weighed or examined. His new weight is 12 lbs 3 oz! Yea! Hard to believe that this is over 12 times his birth weight, and almost double the weight he was when he came home from the NICU in early Sept. The shots obviously hurt, but he was back to his old self once we got home. The doc said that he can start trying veggies with a spoon. Since he already gets rice cereal in each bottle, the veggies are the next step. We'll try this tomorrow and post a picture...hopefully he likes them a little bit!

New Playroom
Matty's Grandma Sharon created a new playroom at her house! She painted a tree on the wall with lots of butterflies, bees, frogs, etc...it looks awesome! We also went up into the attic and found toys from my childhood...Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, trolls, Little People...it was so fun to take a trip down memory lane! Here are some pictures of Matty enjoying his new room! He had a great day.

First Shopping Trip
With temps reaching into the high 60's on Thursday, my Mom and I decided to take advantage of the great weather...we took Matty on his first shopping trip! We went to Town Center because we could be mostly outside with his stroller. Up to this point, Matty had only been out for appointments and of course trips to his grandparents' house. He seemed pretty confused when he woke up and didn't have a clue where he was! It was a great day and we can't wait until the weather is nicer all of the time!
