Zach's class made homemade donuts today. He was too busy to turn around for the picture!

Hanging Out
We went up to the Legends yesterday to pick up Zach's new end table. He had to visit the fountains and the elevators before we left, of course!

NICU Reunion
On Saturday afternoon, we attended the annual OPR NICU reunion at the park behind the hospital. We had a nice time catching up with our friends that we met during Matty's stay in the NICU, as well as Dr Schooley and Dr Stapley. Dr Stapley was in the delivery room when Matty was born, and he was the angel who was finally able to intubate him after a couple of failed attempts. He kept us calm and somewhat sane during the long, dark days spent worrying in the hospital. He would try to keep our spirits uplifted as we all went through terribly scary times. The boys had fun running around with their buddies Marshall, Roman, and Sophia. These 2008 grads have all come such a long way since their tiny beginnings. We are all so proud of them!
The NICU is on the top floor of the building behind us. Matty actually stayed in 2 of those rooms facing the park. I used to stare out of those windows while spending hours in his rooms.

School Party
Zach celebrated his birthday this morning with his class. He brought glazed donuts and I read his favorite lifeguard book to the kids. Zach wore a birthday hat and had fun celebrating with his friends!

First Day of School
Zach had his first day of school today. He will be going on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings. He did not want to pose for any pictures this morning, so here is the only decent one I got. He had a great day and made a nice school bus project.
Zach Turns 5!
Zach had his 5th birthday yesterday! We had a fun weekend celebrating. We went to the pool a couple of times over the weekend, and visited Worlds and Oceans of Fun on Saturday. When we walked into Oceans of Fun, Zach said that his heart was excited. We had a little cookout party for him yesterday, and he opened some really nice presents...a soccer ball, fighting robots, a bean toss game, dancing water blue tooth speakers, a voice changer machine, and a couple of games. Happy 5th birthday to our little guy!
Crown Seats
Jeremy and I were invited to attend the Royals game on Sunday afternoon in the Crown Seats! It was my first time being in that section, and it was absolutely amazing. We started out inside, where they had an open bar and a brunch buffet. Then, we went out to our seats and we were in the FRONT ROW. We were right behind the White Sox's on-deck circle. We had fun heckling some of their players and a couple of them even talked with us a little. I couldn't believe how close we were. Such a fun afternoon, even though the Royals lost.

Orientation
Zach had his preschool orientation this morning. He has 2 of Matty's previous teachers, Mrs Wente and Mrs Jaeger. He has a lot of his buddies from last year in his class and is excited to start his last year of preschool next week!

Star of the Week
Matty is the first Star of the Week in his class. He brought Arthur (the class mascot) home this weekend and wrote about the fun things they did together. He also gets to bring in pictures for the a bulletin board in his classroom, and all of the classmates will write letters to him!

Urban Air
Zach tried out the new Urban Air jumping place yesterday with his little cousin and a couple of friends. There were so many trampolines and a huge climbing maze. He had a blast!

HFTC 2015
We attended the Head for the Cure race this morning at Corporate Woods. My foot has been hurting me lately, but I placed 6th out of 163 women in my age group (35-39) with a time of 24 minutes, 43 seconds. http://www.kcrunningcompany.com/results/?page_id=&id=2688&show=results
The boys hung out sampling different foods while I ran, and then we all went to the brunch next door afterwards.

1st Soccer Game
Up to this point, Zach has been a loyal fan at all of Matty's baseball and basketball games. Today, he started a new sport and his big brother was there to be a fan of his! Zach's pre-K soccer team is called the Blue Bombers, and they played out at the beautiful Scheels Soccer Complex. They practiced for the first 15 minutes, and then the team broke in half and played 3-on-3 ball against another team. Zach was really hustling out there and he enjoyed his new sport!
