Redecorate

Matty got his new bed today...equipped with a new down comforter, pillows, sheets...plus a special quilt and embroidered throw pillows made by my Mom to match his curtains!  We still have to hang some pictures on the walls, but the room looks so cheerful and fun already!  The boys were super excited.

Fun Morning

Both boys had a fun morning!  My Mom took Matty to a special concert by the famous Mr Stinky Feet.  Matty had a front row seat (along with his friends Arden and Abe) and was selected by Mr Stinky Feet himself to play an instrument in the band.  Matty loved it and got to bring home a cd so he can listen to the fun songs anytime!

Zach had fun running around at his weekly gymnastics class.  He really enjoyed the maze and the long tumbling trampoline.  We were both worn out when the class ended!

4 Year Check-up

Matty had his 4 year old check-up today with Dr S.  He was very timid at first and kept telling me that he wanted to leave, but overall, he did great!  I was informed that he will need 5 shots before entering kindergarten, so he got one of them today.  He was so brave!

Here are his 4 year stats:
weight: 31 lbs, 8 oz (11%)...he gained 3 lbs 1 oz this year.
height: 41 inches (59%)...he grew 3 inches this year.

I always have to caveat that he is compared to kids who were born full-term in May'08, so if he was compared to kids born in Sep'08 (his due date), he would be higher in both categories!

Beat the Heat

It has been so hot around here for the past couple of weeks...much too hot for playgrounds, walks, etc.  We have been playing inside mostly, and thank goodness we have a nice pool right down the street!

4th of July

We had a fun-filled 4th of July yesterday!  The day started with our neighborhood's annual parade...it was pretty steamy outside, but luckily our parade route ended at the pool!  The boys had a lot of fun playing with their neighbor friends there.  Then, we spent a great afternoon at my parents' house, complete with a yummy meal.  Finally, we decided to watch the fireworks on tv this year, mostly due to the heat and the timing...the boys cracked some new glow sticks and had fun listening to the music and watching the pretty display!

Swim

When the pool opened this year, Matty was still a very timid swimmer.  He would have to hold on to one of us with both hands when jumping in, would NOT go under water, and was very clingy.  We signed him up for private swimming lessons, and after all 6 lessons were completed, his confidence was starting to build.  Last week, he had a major break-through...he will now jump in all by himself, go under water, and will paddle across the pool unassisted.  We are so proud of him!  He is a completely different kid at the pool now than he was just a few short weeks ago.  Both boys also love to go down the big water slide at our pool.  Zach has fun playing with his watering can and other toys there, and he tells us over and over "SLIDE"...that is his favorite thing to do of course!
