1st Baseball Game

The Lakewood Lions started their second season yesterday morning.  It was really cold outside, but the boys played well!  We are excited to watch Matty play this summer!

Snapping Turtle

We walked down to see this giant snapping turtle on Friday night.  The turtle was under a neighbor's car and they used a rake to push it out and trap it.  We couldn't believe how big the turtle was (and the long tail was creepy)!

The Pool Opened!

7th Birthday Dinner

Matty was lucky to have all of his grandparents and his great-grandma at his birthday dinner!  He received many nice gifts such as snap circuits, a magic kit, clothes, and beach toys.  He chose a yummy cookie cake for dessert.

7th Birthday Pics

It's hard to believe that Matty turned 7 years old on Tuesday!  It seems like just yesterday that he was born.  We are so proud of everything he has accomplished, and that he is such a caring and compassionate boy.  I received a nice compliment from another mom last week...her son had fallen down at recess and Matty was the only boy to run over to him and asked if he was ok.  This is just one example of his great character.  Happy birthday to our former 1-pound miracle boy!

Last Day of Kindergarten

It's hard to believe that the school year is already over!  Zach and I went on the kindergarten field trip this morning at the farm.  I had 2 extra boys from his class in my group, so I was chasing after 4 boys all morning.  I was afraid that one of them would run off and would get lost!  Luckily, we made it through the farm just fine.  Then, all of the kids had a picnic lunch at the playground.  The boys didn't stop running the entire time.  I think we're all exhausted!  Matty had such a nice group of kids in his class this year, and I'm so thankful that he loved school so much.  He gave his teacher a big hug at the end and just like that, summer began!

Birthday Treats

Matty celebrated his birthday a little early with his school friends this morning.  He brought baseball cupcakes and the class sang happy birthday to him!

Field Day

Here are some shots of Matty at field day this morning...he was on the blue team.  I copied them from the school's website, so the quality isn't the best.  However, it looks like he's having a great time!

Last Day of Preschool

Zach had his last day of school today, and now is officially on summer break!  He has come such a long way since he started school last fall.  He originally would not do any of the craft projects or play with any of the kids at recess.  However, as the year progressed, he turned it all around!  He loves school now and can't wait to start his last year of preschool in September!
Getting ready to go!
Enjoying the popsicle party.

Zach loved his teacher, Mrs Holsapple.  Luckily, she's one of our backyard neighbors!

Taking a picture in his future classroom.  He's already excited!

Hiking Adventure

We went to the arboretum yesterday to enjoy the nice spring weather.  We started out on our usual cottonwood trail, and half-way through, the boys discovered a trail that we have never tried before, called the west trail.  The west trail was very windy, hilly, and much longer than I had hoped for, but the boys did great and didn't complain once!  We finally found a map that showed that the west trail was a mile long just by itself!

Exploring the west trail.                                                                                             Just finished the long hike!

Kindergarten Program

The kindergarten classes had their program on Monday morning.  They sang a bunch of adorable songs and did great!  Matty's favorite song was "The World is a Rainbow".  Afterwards, we went back to his classroom for a little fun "awards" presentation.  Matty got an award for always laughing!
