Little Decorators

Even though the weather has been steamy outside, the boys were excited to help me with all of our fall decorations!  We even created a Halloween tree with orange and yellow lights.  Bring on Fall!

Preschool Orientation

Matty will begin his last year of preschool next week, and he went to orientation yesterday morning.  He will be in the same classroom as last year along with a couple of buddies he already knows.  He really liked his new teacher, Mrs Jaeger.  He seems really excited to start back soon!

Fun with Friends

The boys met their friend Sam at the Farm yesterday morning!  They got a little soaked in the mister sprinklers and had a fun time.

Head for the Cure 2013

We participated in the Head for the Cure event held at Corporate Woods yesterday morning.  There were over 5,200 people there this year!  I ran the 5k race and the boys stayed with Jeremy at tent village...their favorite was the pizza truck!  Afterwards, we attended our next door neighbors' brunch in their back yard...the boys enjoyed donuts and Matty had fun playing in the giant bounce house.  Even though it was a steamy morning, we all had fun helping to raise money for a great cause.

Here are my 5k race results...I finished in 24.5 minutes, which placed me in 9th place for my age group out of a total 174 women!  Not too shabby I guess.  Here are the online results:  http://kcrunningcompany.com/results_photos.php?id=1141&show=results# 124

They found some police motorcycles in the parking lot.

Cousin Love

We visited Erik's house on Friday.  The boys had fun playing with their little cousin, eating lunch, playing with sprinklers, and taking a ride with Erik on the JD.  Matty even helped put Brynlee to sleep by turning on the music and rocker on her swing!

PA Trip

We went to visit Jeremy's family last weekend in Pennsylvania.  Zach was scared on his first airplane ride, but he quickly got the hang of it.
Watching the airplanes at KCI.

Z's first time at an airport!

Standing next to Franco Harris.
Some of the highlights:
We had a family picnic at Jeremy's parents' house.  The boys had fun playing outside with their 2nd cousins.

Zach, Kailyn, Ainsley, Lily, Matty.
They loved Lily's Jeep ride toy.
We went to Kennywood.  The boys had so much fun on a bunch of rides!
Riding the paratrooper ride with me.

The view from the picnic area...one of the oldest steel mills in the world.

We had a 3-hour delay in Chicago coming home, but the boys enjoyed going on all of the moving walkways.  They were getting pretty goofy at the end, and telling people that they passed "see you tomorrow!"  What a fun weekend!

Cow Attack

We were out enjoying the nice cool weather this morning at the Farm.  While Matty was petting a cow, the animal decided to chew on his shirt!  The shirt had to be pried out of the cow's mouth!  Yikes.  I guess the cow liked the fabric softener I use...
Help!  Get this cow away from me!

Z plotting revenge on the cow...

Trains!

We headed back to the trains at the Arboretum yesterday!  The boys also fed some of the large coy fish and turtles in the lake.  Thanks to my Mom for the pics!

Silly Zach striking a pose.

Crayons!

We had a soggy morning today, so we tried out Matty's crayon maker kit.  The boys helped me install a light bulb and read the instructions.  We turned 4 ordinary crayons into 2 'swirly whirly' ones (as Matty described them).  Very creative and fun!

Outdoor Trains

We headed back to the Arboretum this morning and went straight to the train area.  This time, there were actual trains running on the tracks!  The boys loved watching all 3 engines make their way around the town...around a waterfall, underneath the walkway we were standing on, and by all of the little buildings.  The boys managed to find time to eat a picnic lunch nearby, but went right back to the village afterwards.  I think we spent about 2 hours there...it was pretty difficult to make them leave at the end of the morning!
