Last Synagis

Thank goodness, Matty received his last Synagis shots for this season. We are both tired of going to the doctor every 4 weeks! He only gained 2.5 oz this time...I didn't think that he could top the last big weight gain! Once again, we had to wait for the doctor for over an hour in the little room. Very hard to keep him amused for that long! I finally asked a nurse what was going on, and his doc finally came in a little bit after that. He also got the last Hep A shot, so he received 3 in total. The only shot that he has left for his 2 year appt will be the MMR. This is the shot that scares me the most. For a while, the drug company used to break the shot up into 3 parts, but then went back to putting the 3 parts together. Supposedly, the drug company won't answer any questions as to why they won't break it up anymore. I guess I have a few months to do more research. It just seems that these little ones have to get so many shots!

On a happier note, Matty can pick out every one of his bath tub animals when I ask him. He can identify the horse, cow, sheep, dog, cat, goat, frog, duck. He is very proud of himself when he selects the correct animal!

The Green Balloon

Matty checked out all of the balloons that the Hen House had to offer today. He ran from aisle to aisle finding them. Our checker told me to stop at the floral department for a surprise for the little guy. Sure enough, they blew up a little green balloon for Matty to take home. He loved it! He held it in the car, and then proceeded to carry it all around the house for the entire morning. He wouldn't let go! After his nap, the balloon started to deflate a little bit, and now it's pretty well shot. But it did provide a few hours of fun! I think that we might have to go with a balloon theme for his 2nd birthday...

Freedom

We have had one of the worst winters that I can remember. The cold weather, snow, etc just will not end! Since Matty started walking, he has not been able to go outside at all to run around the yard or walk down the street. We have basically been trapped inside for about 3 months now and it is really getting old! This weekend, a sleety wintry mix set in and left a nice layer of frozen fun on the sidewalks and yards. Not fun for taking the dog out. Last night, we ventured out to dinner. The little guy seemed restless and the restaurant wasn't that crowded, so we let him walk around a bit. He went right for the waitress station and was amusing about 5 waitresses. He was waving and smiling at them. What a flirt! Then, we ran to the grocery store to get a few items. We let him run around there too. He ran from aisle to aisle, very excited to have some freedom! He ran over to the florist area and played with the helium balloons. Then he ran to the produce section, through the frozen foods section...it was hard to catch him. I can't wait until he will be able to run around outside!

Pet Store Fun

This morning, we went to Land of Paws to buy some new food for Stan. Matty loves to visit because they have a bunch of puppies in cages. We went to the back to look at the dogs as soon as we arrived, and he was fascinated with all of the pups jumping around, barking, and wagging their tails. When we went up to buy the food, I put him down for a second, and he took off towards the cages. Actually, he RAN to the cages. Luckily, the pups were at his eye level, so he could enjoy waving at them and saying "hi doggies".

Happy Valentine's Day

Matty had a nice Valentines weekend. He played with his Great Uncles Ronnie & Richie, his Great Aunt Mary, and his grandparents on Saturday afternoon while Jeremy and I went out for an early dinner. Every restaurant I tried was booked, so we just decided to go early. Eating at 4:30 really isn't that bad! Then we went shopping for a little while and bought Matty some new summer clothes. Today, he played inside and watched more snow fall! Hurry up spring!

Rare Photo Opp

Check this out, I actually got both of the guys in the same picture...twice! This doesn't happen very often, since they both seem to stay out of each other's way. On a side note, Matty learned how to unscrew a cap off of a bottle yesterday. He managed to unscrew one of my hair care products and get it all over the bathroom floor!

Matthew's 2nd Superbowl

Matty enjoyed his 2nd Superbowl. Even though he wasn't interested in eating any football food, he had fun running all around the basement, playing with his toys, and occasionally going up to the tv to watch for a few seconds. Let's face it, he's just too busy to sit on the couch right now. Our weekend was nice, very low-key. Matty had fun at Sam's Club...I let him run around a little bit, which he loved. Today, I was making a new batch of his fruit & yogurt, and I asked him to find the blender (which I don't use very often). He went right over to the correct cabinet, opened the door, and pointed to the blender. Very cute! Here are some pics from today.

Here is a pic from last year's Superbowl as well. He still has that same smile, but a lot more hair!

Identify

Matthew loves to read books. When he sees a familiar animal, he makes the corresponding sound. Just the other day, we were reading a first words book and he really surprised me. There were 10 objects on the page, and I asked him to point to the apple...and he did it! He was also able to point to the boat, train, shoes, dog, cat, car, flower, just to name a few. I guess that all of our hours of reading have really paid off!
