'Tis the Season...

...yikes, it's already that time of year again. Matty had his first Synagis shot for the new season today. He weighed in at 19 lbs 2 oz and had to receive the shot in 2 doses due to his higher weight, and also received a tetanus shot too. Yuck, 3 shots for the little guy. He knew what was going to happen as soon as he went down the hall to the scale. He cried while the doc was checking him out, and especially when the nurse came in with the bandaids and shots. I had to unfortunately hold his arms down while she administered the 3 shots, which made me feel terrible. The doc informed me that he is due for a bunch of shots next time...another Synagis, a 2nd flu shot, HIB, and the infamous MMR. I want to break the MMR up into 3, but supposedly his doc's office puts them all into 1. So, I am going to do some research and find somewhere that will break it up into 3. We also went for a jog together this morning. Matty wore his snowsuit and he resembled Randy in the movie 'A Christmas Story'. Pretty funny! We had a nice weekend also...we went to my sister's house for an appetizer party on Saturday with her husband and my brother. It was a lot of fun! Ash always makes such yummy food. Matty enjoyed playing with their 2 dogs...the larger one (Barbie) really caught his attention. Ash, Erik & Charles gave me a candle and a pretty bracelet for my BDay. Very thoughtful! Here are some pics from today.

My Birthday (Again)

It's hard to believe that today is already my birthday. How quickly this past year has flown by! I think back to last year...Matty was just home from a week's stay in the hospital due to his aspiration episode, he was on oxygen and monitors, multiple medications, and weighed only 8 lbs. This year, he is an active little guy who motors around everywhere, loves to read books, and is turning into a toddler right before my eyes! This morning was pretty crazy around here. The feeding OT had visited last week and told me to start trying him on new foods. She highly recommended eggs, since they are 80 calories a pop. So, I scrambled up an egg along with some whipping cream and cheese, and then blended it up in the magic bullet, since Matty isn't too great with textures yet. Right after he ate, his cheeks had some red bumps on them. About 1.5 hours later, I noticed that he had hives all over his back, legs, arms and he was very uncomfortable due to all of the itching. I freaked out, called his ped's office, and a nurse told me to give him some liquid benadryl and a cold bath. I flew to the pharmacy to buy the meds, came home and gave him a quick cold bath w/ corn starch (which he screamed through) and then tried to give him the meds in a bottle, which he wouldn't take because he was so angry. I had to literally throw the stuff down his throat! Luckily, my parents came over to help. My Dad calmed him down with multiple nursery rhymes and sesame street voices. He took a short nap and now seems to be doing fine. But a very scary morning to say the least! Here is a pic from 1 year ago today, along with the most recent pic of the 2 of us together.

Winter in October?

It appears that winter has arrived early this year. October usually has beautiful weather, but this year, we are already down into the 40's during the day and the 30's at night! Brrrrr. Matty has been missing our daily walks together. Other than the weather, we had a nice weekend. We ate dinner at my parents' house on Sunday to celebrate my brother's recent engagement! He proposed to Steph on Friday, so we are very excited for them! Matty has been having fun in his new toy room. He likes to look out of the window & wave at all of the trees!

Moved In (part 2)

Well, we moved out of my parents' house into our new house over the weekend. It was quite an experience to say the least! The movers came on Saturday and moved our stuff from the storage unit as well as my parents' house. The only items we have found to be damaged are the leaves for the dining room table (scratched) and one of the knobs on the kitchen table (broken in half). Not too bad I guess. Sunday was spent unpacking boxes, and the furniture delivery people came on Monday. Also, my piano arrived! Yea! I have been waiting years to purchase a piano, and now that I have a room for it, I couldn't resist. It is gorgeous. I can't wait to buy some new music soon and someday, teach Matty lessons. Speaking of the little guy, he has adapted to the new house pretty well. We staged his new room to look just like his old one...same blue color, same wall items, etc. We have all of his toys in an extra bedroom for now, and so he enjoys this new setup. Also, we have taken some walks with Stan around the lakes near our home. Very scenic, especially this time of year! Anyhow, here are some pics of Matty peeking over the front entrace hall and also playing (pounding) on the piano.
